Heat Menu

In class we're just finishing up our heat menu. First we had to make the appetizer. We got to choose two labs (experiments) to do and write conclusions. For my first lab, we had to put two different types of metal onto a hot plate and see how they react and why. It was interesting to see how some metals change their form a lot when put onto heat while others barely move at all. We then had to add certain amounts of cold water to hot water and see how they change. We then had to do the drink and main course where we had to read a text, watch a video and do another little experiment and then write conclusions.
My favorite part of this project was the dessert. We had to choose a was to present what we learned or already knew about how heat impacts our lives. I made a small info graphic/poster. If you would like to see it click the link below:

Poetry

Winter

(Multiple haikus)

Stop!Wait for the wind
To whisper into your ear
Listen to her speak

Yes of course she talks
But nobody ever listens
They think she isn't real

She has feelings too.
So every year, when she is down
When she blows stronger

At the end of every year
She can't take it any longer
Comes an icy blow

Finally, it comes
When snow falls and ice is here
Winter comes again

Sorry this is so late.
I'm so happy winter is finally over :)

Environment Slide Show

I think it's very important to see what humans are doing to the environment and help.
Here is the slide show that my class made for the environment challenge.

Passion Project

Hello!
I've finally decided on what to do for my passion project. The subject I've chosen is how to help marine animals. I've chosen this because we are torturing them and we aren't doing much to help them. They are wonderful creatures and  they should be treated with a little more respect.
Help save these adorable animals.
Thanks

CARDINALS (migration)

Cardinals are one of the many birds that have learned how to survive the long winters and stay home instead of migrating when the weather gets cold. These birds have developed quite a few different adaptations that help keep warm over the course of the winter. For example, they are able to control the temperature of their legs and feet separately from their body, which helps reduce the heat that parts from their body when they're cold.

CARDINALS

On this post, I will be talking a little bit about cardinals.

Cardinals are fairly large birds who are wonderful to look at. The males feathers are a beautiful shade of red and the females are brown with bright red accents. They also have a little black mask around their eyes and bill. They have nice long tails, which are normally pointing down.

Cardinal birds normally live in inhabited areas such as backyards, parks, wood lots and shrubby forest edges. They usually nest in in dense foliage and look for fairly high places for singing. Cardinals live mostly in the USA, but they also live in the south part of Canada.

Cardinals don't migrate so they normally live their entire lives in about a kilometer or two from where they were born. In the winter, cardinals usually stay close to bird feeders so it's easier for them to get food, which is a big reason why they don't migrate. Their feathers are also a part of how they keep warm in the winter. Birds are warm-blooded and their blood is actually a little warmer than humans and their feathers are like a little coat that keeps some of the cold out. Birds also have little scales on their feet which help keep out the cold as well. Finally, they can control the temperature of their legs and feet separately from their bodies, thereby reducing heat loss even further.

Thank you for reading.
Hope you enjoyed.

Here is also a bird house I made in science class. It didn't turn out exactly as expected but I tried.

Passion Project

In class we are working on our passion projects. It's like where you get to work on whatever you want and make a presentation to present to the world :0
I still don't know what I'm going to do but it seems really fun.
